Do you need some protection from the sun’s rays while out on your boat? A bimini top could be exactly what you’re looking for. Small, yet durable and providing great cover, they’re a great accessory to add to your boat.
A bimini top, or a “boat top,” is a durable mini-roof made of a tough material—usually vinyl, acrylic fabric or a combination of polyester and vinyl. The name comes from the island of Bimini in the Bahamas, where this type of a roof, or top on boats, was first used by local boaters to protect them from the intensity of the sun’s rays. A bimini top also provides protection from the rain.
Choosing the correct bimini top will depend on the size of your boat, what color you prefer, and how much money you are willing to spend. The most durable of all bimini tops are made from urethane-coated polyester. This type of top is made so that it will not fade, stretch, or leak. A well-constructed boat top, if it is maintained properly, will not collect mildew or lose its strength over time.
When choosing a good, durable bimini top, be sure to check the construction of the metal tubing. The tubing should be made from a very durable metal, such as heavy-duty aluminum or stainless steel. Stainless steel is usually the most expensive tubing available, but it is also the most durable and should last for many years.
Before ordering a bimini top, you have to carefully measure all of the dimensions of your boat to ensure that you get a good-fitting top for the boat you have. Bimini tops are available at all boat showrooms and the sales people are skilled in helping you choose exactly the right top for you, taking your boat’s size and your budget into consideration. You have the option of purchasing the top from a dealer and having the dealership install the bimini top for you, or if you would like to save money, you can install the top yourself by asking for a set of instructions from the retailer. why not make your own taylor made bimini tops?

Most anglers fish from open boats without any shade. Often the decks are white. Bad news. You’re being bombarded by the suns rays from overhead, reflecting from the water, and if you’re on a white-decked boat or sandy beach, even more reflected sunlight. If you don’t have shade, you’re being cooked in a thermal oven set on the crisp cycle.
The first thing you must do is protect your skin. Dr. Pam Kennedy, a Tallahassee dermatologist and an angler herself, said the first thing to do is apply a quality sunscreen….More at Protect yourself this summer – Tallahassee Democrat (blog)

Which is the best college on the East Coast to study Marine Biology?
I am looking for a top-notch university, perhaps an Ivy League School or similar on the East Coast with a top-notch Marine Biology Program.
Marine biology is a good example of why the Ivies aren’t always the best fit for everyone. As you can see from the list below, there aren’t many schools that offer it at all, and none of the ones that do are Ivies. Not that there’s anything wrong with, say, UNC or Florida, but you may need to decide whether you’d rather have a name and a more general biology program, or whether it’s more important to you to have that specialty.

You should arrange a formal meeting between your mom and your girlfriend so they can really get to know each other. Good luck and i hope everything works out.
